The Bien Hoa or Ho Nai EPW Camp was a long term processing and holding facility for suspected enemy combatants and sympathizers (detainees).
January 1966 Construction of the Bien Hoa (Ho Nai) enemy POW camp for III Corps Tactical Zone was started, and the camp was opened in May. All formal enemy POW detainment facilities were operated by the South Vietnamese Army (ARVN) with U.S. Army advisors.
In the early years the Battalion transported adult male EPW's captured within their Tactical Area Of Responsibility to the facility which is later described as a camp for male juveniles. It is not yet known when the change took place.
