SP/4 Christensen was a member of the 615th MP Company, 95th MP Battalion, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade, Vietnam, and was killed in the line of duty on 5 December 1971 while on a daytime patrol on Highway 1A along the northern border of Long Binh Post in Bien Hoa Provence. His patrol jeep was struck head on by a "Deuce-and-a-half," (2&1/2 ton truck) belonging to the Army of The Republic of South Vietnam (ARVN), in the vicinity of Camp Frenzell-Jones, home of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade.
