LTC Hotaling assumed command of the Battalion from LTC Harold K. Reynolds in 1961. During his command the battalion participated in Exercise SEA WALL, a major multi unit amphibious landing training exercise in Washington State in 1961. In 1962 they deployed for Exercise SWIFT STRIKE II, a multi division airborne landing exercise in South Carolina. |
He oversaw the C Company redesignation to the 560th MP Company and their deployment to become one of the first MP Companies sent to South Vietnam. He also commanded the Battalion during their deployment to Mississippi University (Oxford), during one of the first major civil rights demonstration marches. It was during the deployment he passed command to LTC Earl B. Milburn. |
